The professor phenomenon

Def: when a professor (usually law, but of any sort) walks into a crowded and conversing classroom and all falls silent.

It should happen any time.

Any time now.

Come on, professor.

Snippets of conversation I can make out: "It's a compensation but you have 21 days to withraw it..."

He arrives!

phenomenon complete!

One time during my 1L year, the entire class of about 70 people were yakking loudly as usual before the professor came in. Precipitously, the yakking came to a stop and dead silence befell on the room, as normally happens when the professor walks in. Except that upon looking around, everyone realized that the professor hadn't walked in yet and there was still like 5 minutes to go before class!!! This was met by much laughter and more ensuing loud chatter until the professor actually walked in.
