Do I miss you?
Yes I do, Yes I do,
I miss you and I'm feeling blue
Yes, indeed I do.
Do I love you?
Yes I do, Yes I do,
I love you and I keep it true,
Yes, indeed I do.
Do I dream you?
Yes I do, Yes I do,
I dream you when I wake anew
Yes, indeed I do.
Tomorrow, will I love you still?
Yes I will, Yes I will,
I'll love you more than words can fill,
Yes, indeed I will.

The End of the Weekend
This weekend was a very incredibly wonderful and special one, thanks to all my friends who came to my birthday party and celebrated with me and Tom who spent the weekend keeping me company. Things are sure to ease off now, but at least I'll have the memories from this weekend! Yay hooray!
On the road today I saw some baby horses (I know they're called foals) and they were so very cute. Also, we had a killer frog sighting this morning.
I'm going to go and read one of my new books now.
Much love to all.

Oh...my...gosh
Oh my gosh. In 33 minutes I will be 20. Help me!!! I won't be a teenager any more!!!
I'm listening to Baba O'Reilly (Teenage Wasteland) for the last few times that it will apply to me.
AUGH!

Today stinks
Today was very stinky. A bunch of non-fun, non-cool, disappointing stuff happened.
-Frantic change of plans because my mom wrote down the wrong DAY to take my grandmother to the airport. Disappointment ensues because of plans that were supposed to happen tomorrow but now won't since the airport trip was moved to today.
-Painters are doing the doors so they are all open and flies have taken advantage and decided to buzz all over. I put away all the food but they're still there...buzzing...
-Honeycomb tangled with a wet brush and now has a streak of gray paint down his back.
-I smacked my forehead a good one on an open cabinet door.
-Mini-fight with the mater over backseat driving. I will never win.
-My last day as a teenager.
Oh well. At least I have tomorrow to look forward to!

YAY TODAY IS WONDERFUL!!!!
YAY!!!! GUESS WHAT TODAY I GOT TWO PIECES OF MAIL A POSTCARD FROM MY TOM AND A BIRTHDAY CARD FROM MY AWESOME COUSIN ANN!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY!!! PLUS WE ARE HAVING PIZZA FOR DINNER TONIGHT!!!
Ok, letting up on the caps. Anywho, I am super excited and it is really fabulous and today I had lunch with my Gretch-Fletch which is also awesome!
It is now time to reveal my secret party plans.
Guest List:
-You!!!!!
-Other people!!!
Activities:
-Blowing Bubbles
-Playing hopscotch and drawing on the driveway
-Eating
-Playing battle of the backyard with little green army men
-Watching movies
There will also be a brownie ice-cream cake (sure to send Ruth into culinary ecstasies)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know you want to be there to celebrate my quarter-life crisis. According to Gretchen, all of the planned activities are a direct result of me being in denial of my age and maturity.
I, however, think she's crazy. After all, who played tag at her 16th birthday party?

The frog attack that (nearly) occurred
So today, I was minding my own business, approaching the pond to poke at the fish (hey, I never actually touch them), talking to my mom about the butts, when suddenly - THE KILLER FROG THAT LIVES IN MY POND JUMPED FROM THE ROCKS INTO THE WATER!
Yes. I know. That means it was really close to me! Scary, right?
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!!!!!!!
Oh no. Then, I went to look at the fish in the water and it swam up from the bottom and LOOKED AT ME. RIGHT IN THE EYE.
Then I yelled so it went back down.
I almost got attacked by that frog. I shouldn't have named him Ajax. I think it gave him a warrior instinct.

Today
Today is beautiful, sunny, and temperate, which means good mood! Not much to report, just very excited for my birthday party that will somehow, hopefully, end up being a mini-Disney Diva reunion. I am so excited! I cannot wait! Woohoo, woohoo!
On another, more sucky note, my dad is going to India tomorrow.
On another, more sucky note, I miss my Tom and all my girls in AA, OH, IN, IO, and IL.
On another, more upbeat note, I got new piano books from the library yesterday! Yay new music!

Bernie's back
Well, Bernie's back from her adventure "up nort". It was such a fun weekend! I did many cool things such as visited two museums, tramped around in the woods, took pictures of ducks, saw a rainbow, ate brownie ice-cream cake, watched tv, kicked Tom's ass at pool (lovingly, of course), listened to classic rock, and slept. This entry will consist mostly of pictures, for although I am a writer, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

UNFAIR
My Tom sent a card to my dogs and not to me!!!!!!!!!!!
Although there were pictures for me. But still!!!
Oh, the unfairness of it all.
Although I was allowed to open it, read it, and now to keep it.

Party plans
Dear Abby,
I have a birthday party coming up, at the end of May. Since the weather is likely to be warm, although we're in Michigan which makes any day a guess, I have planned outdoor fun. What sort of things should I provide so that the party will be absolutely awesome? Also, it is my 20th birthday.
Sincerely,
Openly Lighthearted Damsel
Dear OLD,
20, you say? That's the most depressing birthday ever, except for all the ones after 21. Therefore, I recommend much outdoor play equipment - bubbles and blowers, sidewalk chalk (to play hopscotch and just draw), lots of good food, good friends, and little green Army men so you can play war. If you buy enough of those people can take them home as party favors too. There you go, OLD. That's my advice. Have a good birthday.
Sincerely,
Abby

Testing, 1, 2, 3
This post is a test, just to see if anyone reads this. If not, I will make less effort to make it funny. Just kidding, I get my own rewards from venting and making silly jokes on this thing - it gives me something to do to fill up the empty hours of my day thinking about people I miss...Ruth...Irene...Surbhi...all the Disney Divas...Tom...Ann...yeah.
Nothing has happened today, except it's Mother's Day which is always nice because my mom gets to relax. The only bad thing is...gulp!...my mom's present- she asked that for a present I teach Kristine percentages, and that Kristine learn them. THIS IS A TALL ORDER!!!! I have no patience with kids, and every time I attempt to teach Kristine something I end up wanting to shoot myself because it is so...damn...frustrating. I'm liking the ellipses today.
Wish me luck teaching my sister! Believe me, I will need it.

Today
Wow, today has been an adventure! We (the family) went to Grand Rapids, ate Dim Sum, went shopping at the Asian Grocery (yay jelly drink and cashew cookies), got my dad a haircut, and went shopping at el mall-o. I bought my very first pair of sunglasses (I know! It's so exciting!!!) and we found a very nice suit for my grandmother to wear for Mother's Day tomorrow. We also had ice cream at Dairy Queen, and it was yummy. Then we drove home and now I'm so tired I might take a nap, but I will be awake for tonight because there is a movie party! YAY MOVIE FUN!
Guess what I got in the mail?
A POSTCARD FROM MY TOM!
TODAY'S MESSAGE: O Inventor of Postcards, I adore thee. Small cards of stiff paper with pretty pictures printed on them are the lifeblood of my mail existence. I love them and you, and those who send them to me.

Me, bored
Absolutely nothing has happened today. Pretty much. I have contacts. I said that already. I talked to Tom, which was probably my favorite part of the whole day. I am having a mini-movie party tomorrow.
TODAY'S MESSAGE: Gretch is my Gretch Fletch. She will Lay you on the tennis court, kick your ass when it comes to stringing a racket, and kiss you on the cheek. Also she will spoon with you. I love her.

Weird
For some reason, I'm awake now. It's 5:32. I can't seem to get back to sleep. This is so odd.
Going to snuggle with a good book and hope that I drop off.

Yes, indeed, it's a Mexican holiday which I know nothing about except that it falls on May 5th. Not much to report here, stuff has happened that is nothing but boring. I have eaten burnt pizza, taken a shower, and am about to go check the mail. Fascinating, yes? Hopefully, I will have more to report later.

The end of my day (probably)
Well, it's official - Bernie has no life! Her days have somehow melted into a) talking to Mom about the same subjects (i.e. Tom, grandmother, Vietnam, father being away), b) being online/writing emails, c) missing beloved friends, d) sleeping and eating. I took two 2 hour naps on seperate occasions today. Freaky, I know. Maybe I'm slowly turning into a fungus. They sleep a lot, right?
TODAY'S MESSAGE: Sophia, light of my life and fire of my loins (sorry, that's from Lolita, I had to throw it in). You are the light of my life (though not the fire of my loins) and I love you eternally much. Just struggle through these last few weeks and then we'll have a blast!!!!!!!!!
Something I've noticed: these colons are almost perfectly shaped.
::::::::::::::::::: <--- wow, that's really fun and cool looking. And weird, so I'll stop now.

Teeth out!!
Went to the dentist this morning...apparently, I have receding gums. Now I have to brush softly, and also floss more. At least it's not a receding hairline.
More later.
More later.

The Wrap Up
Dinner at Pizza Hut because weird Chinese people were at my house enjoying the movie theater and what appeared to be lots of cups of tea with cookies. Dinner was sort of surreal because it took us an hour and a half to get our pizza = !!!! We did get 50% off the bill, though, which is only fair, because the whole ordeal was 2.2 hours long. FOr some reason whenever we go to Pizza Hut something like this happens. Last time they burned our pizza so we got another one free. Hmmmm. Must look into this weird karmic aura thing.
My sister is P.O.'d at me. I have, it seems, forgotten what it is to be a little sister. Oh wait- I don't know, since I'm an older sister and apparently all we do is be mean. Little sisters!!! *shakes fist*
Not much else to report. About to go to bed (I know, I know, I'm sad). Dentist appointment tomorrow (yuck, but Jody will be interested in the details). Must remember to mail out invitations. Till tomorrow, then.

Stuff and nonsense
Dear Abby,
My mother is paranoid about my driving abilities, though I have been perfectly capable of chauffuering myself for the last four years, and won't let me drive 5 hours to see my boyfriend without guilt-tripping me into feeling like Elektra. I am unwilling to give up a weekend spent 'up nort' and therefore am in a dilemma. What should I do?
Sincerely,
Driving Under Dictators
Dear DUD,
My suggestion is to purchase a large box, pad it well, stock it with supplies, and FedEx yourself overnight to said boyfriend. This will bring a whole new meaning to 'care package' and 'love letter' and will also thwart your parental strictures for a total of only 111.97, plus fees and expenses. No refunds guaranteed.
Sincerely,
Abby
TODAY'S SECRET MESSAGE: Tater rocks my world. She is pretty effin' sweet. We are going to change the world this summer. Anyone who wants to join please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

Last thing!
Oh! I forgot! I changed the settings so that anyone can leave a comment now, you don't have to be a blogger member. Just to let you guys know.
Last post for today
I think this is the last post for today. Probably.
After dinner, I went with Tater to Barnes and Noble where we had a nice chat about life, our plans for the summer, basic stuff. It was so good to talk to her again because I miss my Tater when I don't see her and we almost never get to hang out any more, what with her being in AA when I'm in the zoo and etc. After talking to her I've outlined my basic plans for the summer.
1) Make money (somehow).
2) Change the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To me, those sound like really good plans. Any help would be much appreciated.
I talked to Tom, which was nice. I miss that kid. After you read this, Tom, you should check your email if you haven't already done so.
I am also talking online to Arti as I write this. I miss that girl! She is far away in NJ and I am here, alone, at my desk. Poooooooooooop.
Not much left to say, except that I'm having a birthday party on the last Friday in May, the 27th, and YOU should come.
Don't forget to get your daily dose of duckiness by turning around twice and quacking. Also the chicken dance. Also being a silly goose.
I should get this odd interest in farm birds checked out. Until later, or at least tomorrow, I'll say goodnight.
Good night, all.

Today's secret message
Since I feel like there's going to be multiple posts during a day, I'll have to just do the secret message whenever I feel like it, and so here is today's!
TODAY'S MESSAGE: Tom is a sweet guy, who is in Alpena and is sorely missed. He has short hair, boat shoes, and also looks really good in a suit (and other clothes too, of course).

Bernie's Day Plan
Ok, here's the plan for today, loyal blog readers (there are very few of you, I know).
1. Finish cleaning up room to tune of Eye of the Tiger or some such in order to picture self in video montage similar to Rocky training for epic fight.
2. Develop pictures, mail mail (hehe), donate books to library.
3. Paint nails and toenails bright spring color in order to will weather to catch up to May.
4. Goof around.
Those are the goals.
According to a certain authority, this blog thing will become addicting- I don't doubt it. Look, I've only been awake for two hours and I've already posted an entry!
Oooga Booga.
Black sweater with pink hat or red cardigan with no hat? Clothing decisions.
Will probably post later.

First post!
Augh, first post! First post! What should I say to commemorate this momentous event? First post! Since this is a blog it must mean that I need to say something really cool, or insightful, or wise. Ah, crap. I think I'm clean out of those sort of things.
Ok, since this is a first post, there has to be a section entitled:
First things first
1. Portage is turning out to be boring.
2. I miss my friends and Tom.
3. It's late and I'm typing this = I have no life.
Chronicle of my day:
1. Woke up. Ate.
2. Went to church. Sat way in back out of line of sight of anything except large mass of heads. (haha, Mass of heads - get it? Unintended, but still funny).
3. Came back. Ate. Cleaned up room.
4. Cleaned up room for what seemed like 9 hours but really was only 2.5.
5. Talked to Tom (Yay!)
6. Ate dinner. Goofed around with family.
7. Pretended to clean up room while surfing Web, watching TV, reading various books I forgot I owned, and listening to music. Fooled mother who thought I was being productive (good job, Bern).
8. Started blog.
This is a very long first post. For those who have read so far I will say this - You are cool.
Ooh, this is an idea! Everyday I'll put a special message for someone. Do you wonder when it will be you? Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum.....look out! You never know!!! (Don't you admire my cool and subtle ways of making people read this?...)
TODAY'S MESSAGE: Jody is my love and I love her! Also she has nice hair and a good sense of humor and a shirt which she bought at H&M in Chicago when we went to visit Christine.
That's it for the first post. Sorry it was so long! Much love to all.
